"When I found out that I had to take the monstrous California Bar Exam again I was devastated. But as luck or destiny would have it I ended up with more than a helping hand to get me through the nightmare again. The Bar Code tutoring program was extraordinary. The tutors really have an insight on how the bar is graded and what it is the bar graders are looking for! The cheat sheets were awesome, and I used them as much as I could for this February 2007 exam. They were like blue prints in my head that I could just type on to the computer. The performance work shop was eye-opening especially after I found out that it was totally different and much better than what I had learned with one of the very LARGE bar programs out there. Belia my tutor, truly applied what Whitney (the founder) advocated and made sure I understood what she was saying and tailored her tutoring to my strengths and weaknesses. They were both very sincere in their desire to help me pass, and that sincerity is priceless. Now here I am, finally a lawyer!"

"The Bar Code Program as a whole directs the student to the need to write in a way that not only addresses the issues but also informs the grader of the applicant's ability to "unfold" the law. By addressing minor issues which lead to the major issues the applicant "educates" the grader so that the grader is aware of the applicant's knowledge as a whole. The Cheat Sheet book is an ideal format for how various questions need to be addressed and the best template with which to address fundamental essay questions."

"Facing the California bar exam for the fourth time, I was seemingly out of options. I tried one of the largest and most popular bar review programs and used another private tutor. They didn't work. However, with the Bar Code, I faced a stark difference. The Bar Code offers a straight-forward and approachable method to essay writing and performance test management. My tutor, Belia Bennett, offered weekly writing exercises and constructive, easy to understand feedback. Equally as important, Belia kept me focused on passing the bar exam even though I felt scared, experienced many sleepless nights and almost believed I couldn't pass. Belia was awesome!!! I can't recommend the Bar Code enough!!!! Thank you so much!"

"I highly recommend The Bar Code program to all students taking the California Bar Exam. Whitney Roberts has created a preparation course that clearly outlines the precise steps students can easily follow for achieving the highest scores on essays and performance tests. The tutors work extensively with each student to hone their writing skills, giving detailed feedback. They are absolutely relentless in getting test-takers to perform their very best on each and every practice exam, and you will appreciate that fact when you sit for the exam. I could not have hoped for better preparation. Thank you!"

"I graduated from UC Davis School of Law in 2002. I did not take all of the "bar" courses in law school, but was still confident I would pass the exam on the first attempt. I was wrong. On my third attempt, I retained the services of The Bar Code. I do not think I could have passed the exam without the individualized attention the program provides. My tutor went through all of my essays (quite a few too!) with great attention to every detail, and helped me understand what had to change in order for me to have a shot at passing. Her encouragement and sincere communication of how I was actually doing allowed me to realistically gauge my progress, and find the confidence to believe I could pass. Thanks to everyone at The Bar Code!!!!!"

"I had been out of law school for 4 years before I decided to take the Bar Exam. The first time I took a survey bar review course, and while it was great for the substantive law, it did not teach me how to write specifically for the Bar Exam. The Bar Code program clearly taught me how to write for the exam and, as importantly, unlocked the mystery behind the PTs. The Bar Code approach to the PTs made sense to me from the moment I heard it. I am convinced that without instruction of this program, I would have faced the same challenges as I did the first time. In fact, I wish I would have supplemented Barbri with this program."

"I graduated from UOP McGeorge School of Law and my firm paid for me to take a full service bar review program. Because I lived so far away from a lecture site, I studied at home and listened to the lecture CDs. Although I diligently followed the study schedule, I felt unprepared before and during the July bar exam, largely because I never received any one-on-one feedback on my writing skills. I had a gut feeling that I had failed the exam and, sure enough, I did.
I was contacted by McGeorge's Dean of Academic Affairs about my poor results and I told her that I felt that I needed a bar preparation course in which I would receive more personal attention and feedback, not one where I felt like just a number. She recommended The Bar Code. I looked into the program and decided to enroll. The schedule was rigorous (I wrote nearly 55 practice essays in a two-month period) but my tutor, a former bar grader, gave me excellent writing tips and feedback on each practice essay. Moreover, she met with me in person every week (often twice a week), which for me was invaluable. As a result, I felt confident before and during the February bar exam...and passed!
I highly recommend enrolling in The Bar Code course, especially if you are a person who values one-on-one attention and feedback. The tutorial schedule is demanding, but if you stick with it the chances of having a successful result are excellent. I am taking the Nevada bar exam in February 2006, and will absolutely use The Bar Code."

"After graduating from a top law school and practicing in two other states for nine years, I took the California Bar Exam. Although I attended a bar prep class and studied for over six weeks, I failed the exam the first time I took it. Still in a state of disbelief, I found The Bar Code and began working to improve my essay writing and performance test taking skills. I took the exam a second time and passed. I truly believe I could not have passed the exam without my tutor’s coaching -- it made all the difference and gave me the tools needed to pass the exam!

"The Bar Code is an excellent course for California bar prep, designed to teach you the things that the "other courses" do not. The truth is, there are tricks and secrets to the bar exam. The Bar Code taught me to give the bar examiners what they want and helped me build confidence in my exam writing. Once you learn The Bar Code formula, you'll be able to answer any essay, no matter what the subject!"

"Studying for the California Bar Exam, in my experience, is wholly unrelated to studying for law school exams. For the purposes of the Bar, knowing the substantive law backwards and forwards is not enough to ensure adequate performance on the written portion. Nor can you rely on your writing style that got you through law school. The Bar exam requires a specific, technical formula, which I was only able to learn from The Bar Code program. I only wish that I had taken The Bar Code program at the outset. I would have been spared the pain and anguish of having to take the Bar Exam a second time."

I took the bar exam for the first time in July 2005. I signed up for two prep courses (one substantive review and one multiple choice review) and was satisfied that they were going to be enough to prepare me for passing the bar on the first try. I had been told by numerous people that as long as I took the "main" bar review course and followed their instructions, I would pass. I'm sure many people reading this testimonial also heard the same thing, and got a really big wake-up call when they subsequently failed the bar. When I got my essay scores back (two 50's and four 55's), I realized that I was obviously missing something big in terms of what the bar graders are looking for in an essay.
Once I was able to get past the initial shock of failing, I enrolled in The Bar Code private tutorial program and also attended the Performance Test workshop. Once I started working with the company materials and writing essays, I immediately got what I didn't get the first time - CLEAR instruction on how to write for the bar exam and truly meaningful feedback on my essays. The combination of the Bar Code Cheat Sheets and my tutor's critiques made a night and day difference in how I wrote my essays. After completing the Bar Code program, I went back and read my failing essays from the summer before. If you were to compare those essays to the essays I wrote for The Bar Code, you would think they were from two different people.
The biggest realization for me after completing this program was that I had spent an entire summer and countless hours studying for the bar exam, and yet I went into it the first time completely unprepared to write passing essays and didn't know it. I was just blissfully ignorant. When I walked into the Convention Center the second time around, I felt like I couldn't have been more prepared. It was a completely different gut feeling that was missing the summer before; I actually felt confident.
I will go to my grave knowing that The Bar Code Bar Review course is the reason I passed the second time and actually got to experience the feelings of indescribable elation, relief and accomplishment that came with seeing my name on that pass list at 6:00 p.m. on May 19, 2006!!!! After having been there and learned what it feels like to enter your numbers on the State Bar website only to have it tell you that you could not be found on the pass list, I can say without any reservation that one way to avoid experiencing those feelings again is to do yourself a favor and enroll in The Bar Code private tutorial. I look back on my decision to do so as one of the smartest things I ever did for myself."
